Qualifications

We are seeking a Plaintiff-Side Employment Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. This role involves advocating for employees in employment-related legal matters, including workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage disputes, and wrongful termination. In addition to representing individual clients, the attorney will also be responsible for fostering and managing relationships with co-counsel attorneys to enhance the firm’s ability to handle complex cases, including litigation.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for employee rights, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to collaborate with other legal professionals to build strong cases and maximize client outcomes.

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$150,000

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Client Representation:

  • Represent employees in a variety of employment law matters, including workplace discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage theft, retaliation, and more.

  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents (complaints, motions, discovery requests, etc.), and provide strategic advice to clients.

  • Manage all aspects of case preparation and litigation, including settlement negotiations, hearings, and trials.

  • Advocate for clients by presenting persuasive legal arguments and providing guidance throughout the legal process.

  • Educate clients about their legal rights and the potential outcomes of their cases.

  • Provide emotional support to clients, understanding that they may be facing challenging personal and professional circumstances.

Co-Counsel Development and Relationship Management:

  • Develop and nurture relationships with other employment law attorneys for potential co-counsel arrangements, particularly in complex cases requiring specialized expertise.

  • Identify and reach out to potential co-counsel firms or attorneys for collaboration in case management.

  • Collaborate with co-counsel in litigation strategy, sharing resources and expertise to enhance case outcomes.

  • Maintain strong, ongoing communication with co-counsel to ensure seamless representation of clients.

Case Management:

  • Oversee case files from intake to resolution, including managing deadlines, discovery, client communication, and procedural compliance.

  • Work closely with support staff, paralegals, and associates to ensure the timely completion of case tasks.

  • Keep clients informed of case developments, and provide expert legal counsel regarding their rights and options.

Business Development and Networking:

  • Assist in growing the firm’s presence by participating in legal conferences, seminars, and community outreach events.

  • Maintain a network of industry contacts, including potential co-counsel and referral sources, to expand opportunities for the firm and its clients.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborations with other legal professionals and organizations.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to the state bar in Arizona

  • Admission to the state bar in California is also preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing employment law, with a focus on plaintiff-side cases (preferably in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and wrongful termination matters).

  • Proven track record of success in representing employees in employment law cases, preferably with a focus on plaintiff-side advocacy.

  • Experience in litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and conducting depositions, and severance negotiations.
